Little Bird Gets New CEO, Closes Round of Financing

ben.pngAfter more than three years of growth and adventure as CEO of Little Bird, I'm announcing today that I am moving into a new role: company evangelist and Chairman of the Board.  Ben Kaufman (right), who’s been our COO for the past 2 years, is now the company’s CEO. I'm excited to focus on opening doors for Little Bird technical integrations, supporting our revenue goals, and helping businesses explore the best ways to engage with influential people online.  I’ll continue to work with some of the biggest and most innovative companies in the world, helping them leverage social influencer data for marketing and market intelligence research, on topics ranging from local agriculture to space technology to artificial intelligence.

This move comes with the closing of a new round of financing: a $2m raise initiated by Jason Calacanis’s Launch Fund, led by existing investors Oregon Angel Fund and participated in by fantastic investors new and old like Fresco Capital, Social Starts, Joshua Schacter (Delicious), Leo Polovets (early LinkedIn), Sean Byrnes (Flurry/Yahoo), Bob Brinker, Aaron Fulkerson, Jay Baer, serial entrepreneur Jonathan Siegel and more.  We are really excited about this great support from such smart people – locally, in the Bay Area and internationally!  Little Bird has now raised a total of $4.7m over the past 3 years.

With this round of investment, Oregon Angel Fund's Matt Compton joined the Little Bird Board of Directors. Matt is COO at Simple and is on the Board of REI.

Little Bird's new CEO, Ben Kaufman, has scaled several local startups through exits and we're very fortunate to have him in the CEO position!  Ben and I work closely with a senior leadership team that now has decades of experience building successful startups.  Head of Sales Jess Swan scaled several local startups, including Jive Software and Jama Software, Head of Marketing Julie Zisman helped create the category of online customer experience management at Tealeaf (acquired by IBM) and Head of Product Jason Zeiber was Senior Product Designer at Jive software, one of the best enterprise social software companies in the world. These team leaders are supported by a smart, hardworking team based in Portland, Oregon.

We’re very excited to continue working with customers old and new to accelerate their work and grow the impact they’re able to make on the world. Thanks for all your support!
